Secret Garden inside - post to my diary

Here is the inside.  I did some fun stuff with my new embroidery sewing machine.  I really need more practice with this monster!  There is a pocket for my scissors and wool felt for my needles.  It was a fun stitch.  The next time I get out to the Attic Needleworks in Mesa, AZ, I will look for a cople of charms to stitch to the pocket.

Blackbird Secret Garden Finished! - post to my diary

A quick project completed!  I loved this design by Blackbird and knew that eventually I would stitch this.  I had the pleasure of going through my "stash" to find this piece of linen that I bought years ago.  It's about four inches wide and finished on each edge.  Perfect for the required stitch count.  This is the front and I have stitched my initials on the back.

Almost as good as going to the Attic in Mesa, AZ....Blackbird's Secret Garden is my new start - post to my diary

I had a good morning shuffling through my box of linen and patterns! It's almost as good a going to the Attic in Mesa, AZ. almost... I found an older piece of linen, edged, about four inches wide that will work perfect for a needle roll and scissors keep. Red on wheat brown color is so pretty. I have a few ideas to dress this up. Can't wait to get it stitched and then to the frosting! Thanks for stopping in! Pic to follow!

Blackbirds Rose Garden - post to my diary

Happy Sunday!  I have been working on Elisabeth Timms from Essamplaire, but with all the queen stitching and over one that needs a really good eye on the graph, I decided that  until I get off all the pain meds....I need a brainless project.  This is Blackbirds Rose Garden.  A small pincushion over one on 32 count.  The fabric is chocolate raspberry!  What more could a girl want?!?  The silk floss is Dinky Dyes - Jarrah.  I think it is going to be really pretty once I get it finished.  Very hot here in the wild wild West.  I watched my DH swim - no swimming for me for another 3-4 weeks.  So until I could stand the heart no more I high tailed it to the inside where even 10 degrees made a huge difference.  The picture is ok and truly does not give it justice as to the colors, but one gets the idea!

Home Sweet Home: An Embroidered Workbox – post to my diary - (Book Review – Needle’nThread.com)

Home Sweet Home: An Embroidered Workbox – Book Review – Needle’nThread.com. I just fell in love with this. Another side of me that has been "sleeping" for some time. Crewel work. I used to do this a long time ago but got away when cross stitch became so popular. I want to find someone in the USA that has this item for sale... So adorable. Funny what triggers the drive to keep stitchin!

Angela's Veil - post to my diary

The Veil!  It was made of three layers of fabric.  Each layer had a row of beads (three in each stitch) all the way around each edge.  The comb was beaded with the leftovers from Angela's wedding dress.  It hung beautifully from her updo!
